Sara’s Backstory:

In 2010, immediately after earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Film, Sara Hartman moved to Louisiana to pursue her career in the film industry. She began the long process to become an Assistant Director on movies & TV shows. Sara started as a Production Assistant running base camp on a variety of movies such as Twilight Breaking Dawn, The Maze Runner, The Host and Thunderstruck. These films were the beginning of Sara’s journey and helped provide the contacts needed for a successful career in the film industry.

It was the offer to run base camp on the film Insurgent that moved Sara to Atlanta, GA in 2015 where she completed her last three projects as Production Assistant. In just five years Sara successfully positioned herself to accomplish moving into the roll of 2nd Assistant Director on a full time basis.

While traveling for work, Sara began collecting experience as a Key 2nd Assistant Director for the next two years on both DGA and non-DGA projects. Sara gained a variety of experiences including filming in an active maximum-security prison in Indiana and working on a Bollywood film in New Orleans. At the end of 2018 Sara officially joined the Directors Guild of America and has most recently been working on multiple TV series for Tyler Perry Studios, as well as a series for Oprah and Will Packer.

In Sara’s minimal amount of free time she finds herself traveling, painting, relaxing in coffee shops and most importantly, SLEEPING! Sara still aspires to become a Unit Production Manager in the future. It is a challenging road, but one that can be successfully navigated with Sara’s personality and work ethic.
