DIY Grip & Lighting: Building Your Cinematic Toolkit
THURSDAY, Aug. 28 at 7:00 PM EST
Join Prof. Ryan Funk and Prof. Randy Baker for a 90-minute workshop on building DIY grip and lighting gear to create low-cost cinematic images to enhance your toolkit.
This month, we will take a deep dive into creating and building grip and lighting gear to help you complement your Full Sail gear package to create more cinematic-looking imagery.
In the workshop, we will be demonstrating different DIY lights that you can buy and build, as well as DIY grip and lighting tools, including lighting modifiers, dimmers, diffusion material, cucolorus, and even look at how to build the new trend in mirror-style hard lighting. This workshop is designed to show you how to use cheap alternatives to costly industry gear, how to modify and build large light sources from hardware stores, and how to use foam core, bead board, and other easy and cheap materials to give yourself much more control over your lighting.
We will also be showcasing some new, more affordable alternatives to industry tools like background projectors and flashlights, fog machines, and diffusors. This will include a look at some more cost-effective options to the expensive light sources like Aperture and Arri, which are a fraction of the cost.
Zoom Hosts: Randy Baker, Course Director for Composition & Visual Design & Ryan Funk, Course Director for Location Lighting.
Topic: DIY Lighting, DIY Grip Gear, Practical Lighting, DIY Diffusion, Window Lighting, DIY Reflectors, DIY Safety Gear.
Time: 7 PM EST.
