Here is the invite for this Thursday (25th) DC BUZZ with female Director/DP/Editor Makayla Wheeler, who will discuss her new feature-length documentary “Double or Nothing,” which she directed, shot, and edited.
Makayla is a 24-year-old filmmaker out of Melbourne, Florida, who has become a well-known underwater and drone videographer and runs her own business. She has found a way to leverage her love for nature and the water into a successful career working in a medium-sized market with local and national clients. She should be a great inspiration for any young filmmaker who is looking to start their own business, she was able to find her niche early in her career, and she has learned a lot by running her own business and producing across a variety of vertical markets.
We will discuss:
- Starting and running your own video business
- Finding and developing clients
- Discovering your passion and niche
She has a new documentary about a double lung transplant who made a paddle board crossing from Miami to the Bahamas. I’m excited to have her share her experiences with our students, who will learn much about the ups and downs of following your dreams.
